WMTC: Mathematics Competency Test of Students of Tazkia IIBS in International Math Competition
Tazkia International Islamic School (IIBS) provides incessant chances for its students to experience learning out of the school such as participating in various competitions in both national and international levels. On November 29 - December 3 2019, five students of Tazkia IIBS took a part in World Mathematics Team Championship (WMTC) in Seoul, South Korea. The contest was designed for students of junior and senior high schools from all over the world.
Ustadz Iqbal Qalbimina, M.Pd as companion teacher stated that Tazkia IIBS students competed with 740 participants from 22 countries, including The USA, Australia, Singapore, Philippine, Thailand, Hongkong, South Korea, Bulgaria, Egypt, Japan, Qatar, Taiwan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, India, Iran, Myanmar, Malaysia, Vietnam, Nigeria, and China. The diversity would be unique experience for all participants.
The team of Tazkia IIBS had been trained intensively for three months before the day. The trainers were from teachers of Tazkia and other experienced mentors for math olympiad.
"There were challenges in preparation period, mainly, fitting the schedule of boarding school with the training. Finally, the training was held out of the class schedule, he said.
Math competency, teamwork and resposibility were examined internationally through this competition. They competed as well as made friends with other participants. "Hopefully, it would trigger them more to establish their talent and potential to the full," said Ustadz Iqbal.
