Grit Traces of Santri Celebrated in The Walk of Honor of Thursina IIBS

A special day for students of 9th and 12th grade of Thursina International Islamic Boarding School (IIBS) for female (9/6), in Harvard Hall, they went in The Walk of Honor, a moment of respect, marking the end of a major phase of their education in Thursina IIBS, full of emotion and pride. It was not just a graduation ceremony, more than that, on their steps of parades along the route of honor, there was a deep meaning about perseverance, sincerity, and dedication for knowledge. The junior students from grades 7, 8, 10, and 11 as well as all teachers, murabbi/ah, staff, and household team (KRT), stood up to applause  warmly as a symbol of appreciation and best prayers.


  

The Principal of Thursina IIBS for Girl School, Ustadz Rois Haqiqi, M.Pd., Gr., said that The Walk of Honor is part of the educational processes that instills the values ​​of respect for knowledge and determination. It is a moment of gratitude for outstanding achievements, and a farewell before the official graduation procession on June 14.


"The students have passed through demanding tests in various aspects, including memorizing the Quran, Cambridge and Al-Azhar exams, to personal, independence, and character examinations. The agenda is the culmination of the process with morally excellent, internationally minded, and inspiring leaders profiles," said Ustadz Rois.


 

 

With a proud and happy tone, he revealed that the students, especially those in high school, have shown resilience during their education at Thursina IIBS, including through difficult times such as the COVID-19 pandemic. "They learnt independently through an autolearn system of online classes. Leadership, patience, and enthusiasm for learning were truly honed," he added.


The recent graduation is more special compared to the previous year for The Walk of Honor 2025. It was the first time that Thursina IIBS held a graduation in an open honor event involving all elements of the school. "We would like to convey our pride directly to those who have persevered considerably to accomplish this goal," explained Ustadz Rois.


 

 

More than just academic recognition, Thursina IIBS tries to instill the values ​​of RECORDING (Religious, Caring, Open-minded, Inspiring) in daily lives of its students. The habit of waking up early to pray Tahajud, reading the Quran, and praying in congregation is not just a routine, but the endeavor to build the character of a true Muslim man/woman.


Despite major challenges such as the diversity of students' backgrounds, Thursina IIBS has advantaged as an opportunity to foster empathy, leadership, and resilience in the students. They are trained to live together, understand each other, and become figures with positive change to their community.


 

In his final statement, Ustadz Rois greatly hopes to the graduates, "May they become the honey of civilization, the leader of a generation, who make parents, teachers, scholars, and the Prophet Muhammad SAW proud. The alumni who are morally excellent, globally minded, and inspiring."


The Walk of Honor  is expected to  inspire the juniors to emulate the grit and spirit of their seniors. Small flags, greeting posters, and proud smiles from all members of the school community add to the sacredness of the moment that would be memorable over time. (sls/lil)
