Winning Two Bronze Medals, Two Students of Tazkia Succeed in Online Olympiad
Pandemic has not become a barrier for students of Tazkia International Islamic Boarding School (IIBS) to gain an achievement. In online Advance Science Olympiad (ASO), held by Pelatihan Olimpiade Sains Indonesia (POSI) for teacher and senior school students, Ferdian Satria Darmawan and Farrel Arganta Nadhyta have brought home a medal.
After passing two rounds on June 28 and July 5, 2020, they won bronze medals for English language and earth lesson.
Ferdian told that he failed in the last competition, however, he tried again by taking part in online competition with another lesson. He tried to do the best, "I intend to learn. Hopefully, the loss in the last contest should bring a lesson for today's competition," he says.
Ferdian conveyed he experienced some obstacles during preparation. Fortunately, the materials from last competition can be useful as one the main references to do exercises.
He admitted that reluctance sometimes becomes the biggest enemy. The comfort and easy access to gadget often lead to laziness. Nevertheless, strong desire to do better has successfully encouraged him to overcome this. "Despite the obstacles during preparation, I want to win this battle. If they can, why am I not ?," he says.
Ustadz Yuda Prima Hardianto, M.Si hopes that such a good opportunity should be considered well by the students. It helps them to experience some creative activity and a chance to measure their own ability.
He, furthermore, and Ustadz Salman Sakif, M.Pd took part in competition for teacher category and won gold medals in both physic and math. "Basically, some webinar or online competition, easily to be accessed in pandemic period, could increase our experience and knowledge," he told.
He also advised that students should be confidence when taking part in a competition. When loosing it, they should take it as a chance to improve themselves more and make proud their parents and school. Additionally, Ferdian suggested to consider this pandemic situation as an opportunity to attain more, not a barrier.
"Surely, we have to remember Allah in everything we do," he closed the statement.
