Thursina IIBS Murabiyyah Wins First Place on National Essay Competition, Highlights Imam Al-Ghazali Education Strategy
One murabbiyah from Thursina International Islamic Boarding School (IIBS) recently made a brilliant achievement in the national stage. Through her essay titled ‘Light of Al-Islah and Madrasatul Ulama, Defense Fortress for the People of the End Times’, Ustadzah Intan Fasya Zahara secured the first place at an essay competition titled ‘Grounding Sirah Nabawiyyah’. Taking place on Februaru 28, the competition was organized by the Center for Sirah Studies (CSS) at the Darussalam University (Unida) Gontor.
Prior to winning, Intan competed against dozens of other participants. A total of 26 essays were submitted to the competition. From these, 16 essays were selected for in-person presentations at Unida Gontor. Three winners were chosen, including Ustadzah Intan.
The general theme for the essay competition was ‘Becoming an Exceptional Individual Through the Example of Prophet Muhammad’. Ustadzah Intan’s essay highlighted the transition period of the Crusades as its basis argument. In addition, she also cited many theories from various books that she had read before. “The period that Westerners refer to as 'The Dark Ages' was, in fact, the golden age of Islam, featuring numerous influential figures. In my essay, I examine Imam Al-Ghazali's educational strategy within the Al-Islah movement and relate it to contemporary education,” explained Ustadzah Intan.
As a murabiyyah at Thursina IIBS, Intan works long and demanding hours. However, she never really perceived this as a challenge. For her, the real challenge lies in her free time, where she must ensure that she uses it wisely, preventing laziness from dampening her learning spirit. In the midst of her busy schedule, Intan remains committed to motivate herself to continuously developing her work.
According to Intan, her biggest motivation in developing her work is her desire to improve the values within herself. As an avid reader and writer, Ustadzah Intan wants to be exemplary figure for her students through her works and achievements. She hopes that students can accomplish great success through the things that they are passionate about. For Ustadzah Intan, anything done with joy is sure to be accompanied by good fortune.
Despite her numerous achievements, Intan is determined to continue her endeavor. She plans to explore her potential in other areas and has expressed a keen interest in participating in conferences and debates. “Moving forward, I want to participate in national conferences and debates. Insyallah,” expressed this Unida Gontor graduate.
Intan recognized that her numerous accomplishments would not have been possible without the support of Thursina IIBS, which continues to provide its staff and faculty with the resources needed to develop their creativity through various competitions. This dedication further motivates Intan to excel in her work while nurturing the trust that Thursina IIBS has placed in her.
