Senior High School of Tazkia IIBS Undertakes Regular Field Study to Master Specific Skills in Each Major

There are five majors in Senior High School of Tazkia International Islamic Boarding School (IIBS) facilitating students to get the hang of their interest regarding future higher education and profession. These majors are ulama, muslim scientist, professional, CEO, and muslim entrepreneur. Each is provided fair chance to actively learn through field study based on their specialties.

One of the deans, Ustadzah Ratu Fatimah stated, this field study is one of the development plans with concrete results.

"Students experience the real condition of society, where the subjects are likely to occur. This outing is scheduled regularly, twice in each semester," she explained.

 

Furthermore, the chief of muslim scientist continued, students can establish network in various levels of society. She took an example from Sciencepreneur major, visiting Sumatra Eye Center (SMEC) to know more about eye-related hospital. SMEC is a special hospital concerned on eye treatment with sophisticated equipment.

Through this field study, students in Sciencepreneur major would have learned further about hospital management, eye-checking equipment, and little about how to diagnose eye disease. "They also met with ophthalmologist to know more about eye hospital," Ustadzah Rafa said.

  


Entrepreneur major, also, undertaken field study to Pelangi Nusantara (PELANUSA), a community of handy-craft and human empowerment, focusing on waste treatment of patchwork from garment to be a feasible products to use, such as, bag, pillow case, and blanket. There are various products resulted from community, as many as twenty to thirty kinds of hand-crafted goods.

By means of outing class, students in Entrepreneur major have grasped about social entrepreneur, bringing up ideas and social problems into valuable products. "Moreover, it can figure out broad picture of how to put an idea into reality," Ustdzah Rafa explained.

  

Meanwhile, Ulama major visited disable community, Yayasan Pembinaan Anak Cacat (YPAC) Malang, social organisation providing integrated rehabilitation service for disable and special-need children. Emotional intelligent (Emotional Quotient) management is absolutely needed here, thus students also experienced how to regulate emotional intelligence.

  

The last two major, CEO and Professional, learned carefully about Creative Photography branding from a workshop held in Bina Nusantara University (BINUS) Malang.

"All of these activities are an entity from one of available courses," she added.
