Thursina IIBS Held Study Excursion to Jakarta, Providing First-Hand Experience of Study Abroad for Students

Jakarta, 13-17 of October 2024 – Thursina International Islamic Boarding School (IIBS) carried out Study Excursion to Jakarta, participated by 34 male students and 18 female students of class 12 LN (Overseas) along with a number of teachers companying the journey. It aims to provide direct experience of study life abroad through pathways available on international campuses in Indonesia.


Ustadz Mohammad Suhaili, S.Pd., the manager of Study Abroad and International Partnership of Thursina IIBS, explained the program was designed to equip students with the real picture of  international education. "We want students to experience first-hand what it's like to study in international campus, taught by native teachers. We facilitate them to take part in a pathway program that allows them to continue their studies abroad through diploma or foundation programs in Indonesia," said Ustadz Suhaili.


On the first day, they visited Jakarta International College (JIC), an institution presenting pathways to leading universities in Australia, England, the United States and China.  The students had a unique opportunity to experience an international lecture atmosphere. They took Management courses taught by Mr. David Anthony Hannigan from Monash College, one of Australia's leading institutions. Furthermore, Business Informatics study was learnt, especially the application of statistics in business, taught by a lecturer from Deakin College.

  

Both campuses originate from Australia and favor pathways for Thursina students to continue their education to a higher level abroad. "They are able to study in Australia or other countries through institutions available in Indonesia, and this is one of the advantages of the program," added Ustadz Suhaili.


Additionally, the team visited several campus representatives, such as Western Michigan University USA, Newcastle University, University of Liverpool, and University of Durham from England. They also went on diplomatic visits to the United States Embassy and the Malaysian Embassy to obtain further information about educational opportunities in these two countries, as well as learn more about cultural diversity and adaptation to studying abroad.


"This Study Excursion intends to offer insight of living abroad, how students can adapt to new cultures, and learn more about various destination countries for higher education" Ustadz Suhaili conveyed.

 

Following academic activities, the students were  invited to the tour of Indonesian capital, including visiting the rich history site, the Old City of Jakarta. In the rest of the time, before going back, the group headed to Bandung, enjoying tours at Farm House Lembang and Cihampelas.


"By the series of activities, Thursina IIBS hopes the students will gain academic insight and valuable experience about cultural diversity and life abroad, to encourage them preparing the future global education," said Ustadz Suhaili hopefully. (rnw/lil)
