Thursina IIBS Encourages Students to Gain International Internship Experience

The internship program for Thursina International Islamic Boarding School (IIBS) students in global companies is held again. The main objective is to provide students with tangible work experience. One of the students had the chance to do an internship in Doha, Qatar. 


The program manager, Ustadzah Ratu Fatimah or called Ustadzah Rafa said that it is part of the final project of the department, used as a portfolio for students who would like to continue their studies, especially abroad. "We offer first-hand professional experience so that students have more skills and broader global insight," said Ustadzah Rafa.

The internship includes five specialization programs, Sciencepreneur, Entrepreneur, Chief Executive Officer, Moslem Scholar, and Technopreneur. The participants are involved in various fields, such as medicine, science, technology, business, management, and da'wah. Overall, there are 56 partner companies, accepting interns from Thursina IIBS.



It is intended for the 11th grade students who have met certain academic and non-academic requirements. Although the priority is provided to those who wish to continue their studies abroad, they who plan to study at state universities are also allowed to apply. The selection process is strick, with recommendations from the Deputy Head of Student Affairs, Islamic Boarding Schools, and Curriculum as some of the main requirements. The internship lasts for about two weeks, from March 10 to 22, 2025. Before the departure, students received briefings and monitoring online and offline.


"This experience is considerably valuable for students. They learn in the professional field, improve communication skills, adaptation, and understanding of the career path they wish to pursue," added Ustadzah Rafa. Besides global insight, it trains independence and responsibility in meeting  real professional environment. Hopefully, they would develop proactive attitude and critical thinking in solving challenges in work.


 

Furthermore, the internships provide students opportunity to build international networks to be useful in the future. Interacting with colleagues from various cultural and professional backgrounds offers worthwhile experience that cannot be obtained from classroom learning.


Later, it is expected more students would advantage from the overseas internship program. We would like to expand chances for more students thus they would have priceless international experiences," she concluded. Thursina IIBS hopes to educate graduates who are ready to deal with global challenges with excellent competencies. (sls/hel)
