Thursina IIBS Hosts 2023 Islamic Summer Camp for Prospective Students, Simulates Boarding School Routines
Thursina International Islamic Boarding School (IIBS) recently hosted the 2023 Islamic Summer Camp (ISC). The annual event brought together a total of 210 prospective students, all gathered at the Thursina IIBS cale campus. Themed ‘Be Brave and Inspire the World’, the camp lasted from April 30 to May 1 2023.
ISC is a program designed for prospective Thursina IIBS students who have applied to the school in advance. Participants in the camp are students in grades 4 to 6 who will continue their studies at Thursina IIBS middle school. The camp aims to simulate life at the boarding school, giving prospective students a brief experience of what it’s like to study at Thursina IIBS. Through this program, participants have the opportunity to explore the everyday Thursina IIBS students’ routines, including learning, tahajjud prayers, murajaah, and a series of enrichment programs.
Ustadzah Alyssa Nailun Kamila, S.I.Kom., the head coordinator of the 2023 ISC, highlighted that the school has been hosting the summer camp annually to prepare prospective students and familiarize them with the experience of being a student at Thursina IIBS. “We had a two-year hiatus during the pandemic, but this year we are organizing it again in person,” she explained.
One of the highlights of the ISC was the series of enrichment programs offered at the camp, which included horseback riding, archery, wall climbing, skateboarding, and badminton. Each participant had the opportunity to try their hand at one of these enrichment programs. These activities are expected to help develop their skills in their chosen fields as students of Thursina IIBS. Afterwards, the prospective students took part in a refreshment program, where they toured the female campus and went orange picking.
Ustadzah Naila hoped that this event can offer a picture of the diverse activities range at Thursina IIBS for these prospective students while also preparing them better to integrate into the daily routine as a boarding school student in the future.
“Later when they become students of the school, they are allowed to pick one enrichment programs as their hobby,” Ustadzah Naila noted.
To wrap-up the 2023 ISC, participants were given awards of appreciation in a variety of categories, including Best Participants, Bravest Room, and Best Cheers. In the end, Muhammad Farris Robbani and Tuti Ulya Putri were the ones bringing home the award for best participants.
ISC is one of the few programs available for prospective students of Thursina IIBS who have applied in advance. These students also have access to a coaching facility called SiSantri, which offers various programs, including tahfidz, Arabic, and ISC.
