Tazkia IIBS Global Dialogue Series : Introducing Learning Process in China Closer
Providing perspectives to high school students has become initial concept since senior high school of Tazkia International Islamic Boarding School (IIBS) firstly run. Aimed to disclose information about higher education to grade 12 of the second graduate, Tazkia IIBS invited Ajra Ibraheem Maghfira Daud, a student of Economics and Trade in Zenjiang University of Technology and Aqila Iffah Marwan, a student of Medicine and Surgery in Chongqing Medical University, (10/31).
Aqila told that when she had a chance to study in China, she did not hesitate to take it. Although she was not fluent yet in speaking mandarin, she decided to study there and found student-friendly university environment, including accessible public transport, rural campus area, and convenience of finding halal food. The alumni of Darussalam Gontor for Female, Modern Islamic Boarding School, added that the class of boarding school alumni has helped her a lot in the adaptation process.
She, furthermore, explained about the difference in the curriculum system used. If medical education in Indonesia uses block system and credit, Chongqing Medical University has scheduled the class and learning materials for each week. In addition, there is Physical Education (PE) course that compulsory for students in the first to third semester.
"Studying abroad is required the courage to ask. Even if you feel confused at the beginning, you will understand over time," she said. In line with what Ajra, a student of the third semester, told that all boarding school alumni will survive when studying abroad. However, only some of them who have strong will to develop themselves. Finding new friends from various countries could be one of the ways to develop ourselves abroad.
Ajra explained about his major that basically discusses about economy in wider scope thus it could reach broader practical field. Moreover, it is a course about China Business, studying how chinese run their business, considering that China is the second of world economy power which has a chance to be on the top.
"It will, certainly, be the best choice to study economics here. Furthermore, there is a hadith that orders to study to China, meaning that people in the era of the prophet had traded with Chinese," he says.
Both of the speakers reminded that to study abroad should have sincere intention. Besides, one should find adequate information about the destined major, university, and country to adapt more easily later.
"The vital thing is we should have strong will. As long as we will, Allah SWT will open the way for us," Ajra concluded.
