Students of Thursina IIBS Secure 4 Geography Medals at the 2023 National Science Competition (NSC)

Students of Thursina International Islamic Boarding School (IIBS) recently achieved another remarkable feat on the national stage on March 26. At the 2023 National Science Competition (NSC) in geography, Thursina IIBS students secured an impressive total of four medals. Fayrous Sania Habiby and Kanza Naulu Malika Arsy won two gold medals, while Anna Tasya Aprilia Santoso and Nurfathiyya Riziqiana Mauludin earned two silver medals.

The NSC 2023 is organized by the National Center of Science Championship (PUSKANAS) under the auspices of the Berlian Hati Mulia Foundation. The competition brought together participants from elementary, junior high, senior high/vocational high schools, and colleges throughout Indonesia.

During the competition, students from Thursina IIBS faced no significant obstacles and completed the test with ease and confidence. Kanza attributed their success to their thorough and disciplined study preparation for the event. "Understanding the concepts and content of the questions is central to our learning strategy. We always begin with the easier questions, and when we encounter more challenging ones, we repeatedly read them until we grasp the pattern of the question," she explained.

To prepare for the competitions, these students often used their free time to learn despite their busy routines at Thursina IIBS. “Even though some of us are active members of the Thursina Student Association (TSA) or involved in event organizing committees, we still dedicate our best time to practicing and mastering the competition materials,” she added.

Kanza also acknowledged that Thursina IIBS significantly contributed to their success by providing the necessary facilities during the competition. “During our practice sessions, we had special internet access and received intensive coaching from our mentor,” she noted.

For Kanza, participating in competitions is primarily about assessing her abilities and, if successful, enhancing her portfolio. She hopes that this success will lead to more achievements in future championships. "Hopefully, our success won’t end here. Moving forward, we need to put in more effort to achieve another victory at the National Science Olympiad (OSN)," she said.

To conclude, this 12th-grade student encouraged her peers to continue pursuing their goals. "For my friends aiming to participate in Olympiads, it's essential to first understand the materials that will be covered and study them thoroughly. Especially in geography, they should start with the foundational aspects, progressing from the earth to social topics. And always remember to pray for ease," she concluded.
