Thursina IIBS Hosts Outbound Retreat for Students After Semester’s Finals
After completing the End-of-the-Year Assessment (PAT), Thursina International Islamic Boarding School (IIBS) organized an outbound retreat for 7th, 8th, 10th, and 11th-grade students on Sunday, June 26. This retreat provided an opportunity for students to unwind and refresh their minds after the semester. Held simultaneously, the female students’ retreat took place at the Coban Rondo waterfall, while the male students’ took place at the Jambuluwuk Resort, Batu.
Accompanied by their murobbi and murobbiyyah, the students set off for their destinations at seven in the morning from the Thursina IIBS campuses. The journey to each location took approximately one hour. Upon arrival, the students were welcomed by the outbound team, who were ready to guide and accompany them throughout the retreat.
With the theme ‘Catch Your Dream with Togetherness,’ the outbound retreat aimed to foster camaraderie among students. The first session included a series of ice-breaking games, after which the students were divided into groups where they would go head-to-head in competitions such as crazy ball, flag race, and water transfer. These activities were specifically designed to teach students how to tackle challenges through teamwork, so as to enhance their problem-solving and collaboration skills.
The outbound retreat is part of the school's refreshment program, which includes a series of activities designed to entertain students and promote their well-being following the final assessments of the semester. This program covers outings to destinations such as Santera, Selecta, Coban Rais Waterfall, and the Ganesha Museums. Additionally, 11th-grade students have the opportunity to visit prestigious universities like Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology (ITS) and Ciputra University. The program concludes with a series of Gema Takbir events, Eid al-Adha prayers, and the slaughtering of Qurban animals before students head home for the holidays.
Aisya Putri, a student from Thursina IIBS, shared her joy and excitement about attending the retreat. She noted that the retreat was able to refresh her mind after a hectic two weeks of finals. "In this activity, students have the chance to spend time with each other. We can strengthen our teamwork while getting to know one another better," she said.
Echoing Aisya’s sentiments, Ustadz Rois Haqiqi, M.Pd, the Principal of Academic Affairs, emphasized that the outbound retreat serves as a recreational outlet for students after their exams. It also provides an opportunity for them to develop their soft skills through engaging activities and games. After participating in this retreat, students are expected to have a refreshed mindset and closer friendships with one another.
“I hope that through this outbound retreat they can learn to work together, to communicate, and that they must lend a hand for each other,” he concluded.
