Strengthening Collaboration in Education and Development, Thursina IIBS Establishes MoU with UBAYA
University of Surabaya (Ubaya) and Islamic Foundation of Thursina Malang officially established cooperation through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). The agreement aims to support each other in the implementation of education and to contribute to national development. It took place in Ubaya campus on January 28, 2025 and was attended by representatives from both parties.
Ustadz Rois Haqiqi, M.Pd., as the Principal of Female Campus of Thursina International Islamic Boarding School (IIBS), stated the synergy is a crucial step in enhancing education based on Islamic values and modern science. "We believe that collaboration with Ubaya will open up many opportunities for students to gain broader learning experiences, and enrich their competencies in the national and international levels," he said.
Based on the MoU, both institutions agreed to cooperate in Tri Dharma of Higher Education, including education, research, and community service. The commitment involves the implementation of Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) program as well, allowing exchanges of students, lecturers, and the enrichment of more flexibel and adaptive curriculum. In addition, the MoU has agreed on other various cooperations.
"We hope students in both institutions have opportunity to learn not only in the classroom, but also through first-hand experience in the field. With MBKM program, they might be possible to learn from industry, partner institutions, and from social activities with real benefits to the community," added Ustadz Rois.
The synergy is expected to create dynamic academic environment, where students can exchange insights and build wider networks. Ustadz Rois revealed the MoU is not just a formality, but a tangible commitment to design more advanced educational ecosystem. "We would like to ensure every program has a positive impact on students in both campuses and broader society. Thus, the young generation would be excellent in science and strong in character, ready to contribute to the nation."
In the future, Thursina Islamic Foundation and Ubaya will continue to develop some programs to escalate collaboration. They are committed to provide education that is more inclusive, qualified and relevant to the next challenges. The MoU is the initial step towards greater synergy in building a better future education for Indonesia. (sls/lil)
