Thursina IIBS Conducts Selection Process for Educational Scholarships for Orphans and Disadvantaged Children
Thursina International Islamic Boarding School (IIBS) has opened the Thursina Scholarship Awards for Orphans and Children in Need. This scholarship aims to provide educational opportunities for orphaned and impoverished students by offering a fund package worth 300 million rupiahs. On Sunday, October 29, a screening process was conducted at the Thursina IIBS male campus for a total of 70 students from across the province who sought the valuable scholarship for both junior and high school levels.
Ustadz Sabar Arifin, M.M, Chief of Relation & Enrolment Office, welcomed these participants and their guardians upon their arrival at Thursina IIBS. In his address, he emphasized that these students are the best candidates that have successfully advanced past the administration selection stage, beating hundreds of other applicants. “Thank you to all of the parents and guardians who have accompanied these students up to this point. Studying at a boarding school requires not only the students' commitment but also a strong dedication from their parents to ensure their children receive a proper education, achieve their dreams, and grow into exemplary individuals,” he noted.
Furthermore, Ustadz Sabar noted that the Thursina scholarship is an ongoing program. Thus, the junior high school awardee will continue to receive the scholarship well into their high school years. After graduation, recipients are required to complete a period of service at Thursina IIBS.
Ustadz Abdul Jalil Mursyid, S.I.Kom, the manager of New Student Admissions (PSB) at Thursina IIBS, explained that students applying for the scholarship must complete a series of assessments. These include documentation and administrative selection, an academic potential test, a psychological evaluation, interviews for both students and their guardians, and Quran tests. For their initial application, applicants must provide certificates of orphanage and economic incapacity issued by their village districts. Additionally, they must not receive scholarships from any other institution or individual while they are receiving the Thursina scholarship. “The target recipients of this program are orphaned and impoverished students with excellent academic achievement. The application process was very thorough and selective, this is so that the tuition aid we’re giving out are l received by those who really need them,” he revealed.
