Overseas Trip to Malaysia and Singapore: Learning About Culture and Education System from Neighboring Countries
Tazkia International Islamic Boarding School (IIBS) has held regular overseas trip to Malaysia and Singapore for students to provide global knowledge about education and learning style there.
Almost 50 students of Tazkia IIBS travelled to some mosques with Islamic civilisation histories in Malaysia, including Putra Jaya, Cyberjaya, and Dataran Merdeka. One of the interesting mosques is Putra Jaya since it was built on a lake (floating mosque).
The companion teacher, Ustadzah Dessy Kusuma Vinahari, S. Pd, stated overseas journey has offered students international experience. Some visited sites have figured out learning style and education system applied. Visiting International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM), students observed culture and learning environment in the prominent Islamic university.
The trip continued to University of Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM). Besides learning about the relation of Islam and science, the group observed ongoing culture and learning atmosphere. Tazkia IIBS also has collaborated with USIM in education field.
"Tazkia IIBS has collaborated with USIM and some educational institutions in Malaysia, therefore Tazkia IIBS revisited them," she added.
The trip was followed by a journey to Batu Cave, limestone hill with several caves and cave temple, located in Gombak district, Selangor, Malaysia. The site was named after Sungai Batu, which flowing through the hill.
Sultan Abu Bakar mosque, in Johor Bahru, became the destination in the next day. Built in 1311 of Hijriah, it is not only the place of worship, but also historical building, the witness of Islam development in Malaysia.
"Islam has developed rapidly in Malaysia; the students have both learnt and travelled," said the teacher.
Afterwards, the team went to Lasalle College of Arts, a university of arts and contemporary design. They was amazed by unique architecture of the building, and offered information for registration to Lasalle. They also learnt about art.
Science Centre is a scientific site for study. It took the students of Tazkia to the new style and method of learning, offering them experience to learn imaginatively and excitingly.
The day before they went back to Tazkia, the group was headed to tourism spots, Universal Studio Singapore (USS) and Wings of Time to relax and enjoy a vacation after six-day study tour in Malaysia and Singapore.
