This session was virtually attended by all Tazkia high school students, majoring in ulama. The speaker told about various strategies to deal with audiences from different background and reminded the siginificance of da'wah in the millennial era.
Initially, Kang Rashied explained the apostle's words about the four pillars in building country. First, the science of the scholars. Second, the justice of the rulers or leaders, which is a part of their preaching, because it could prosper people.
The third, generosity of the rich and the fourth, prayer of the impoverished. The four pillars should grow at the same time as their roles. Furthermore, it is the Ulama who will becomes the unifying element to work together through preaching.
"If da'wah is not carried out, the Prophet's prediction might be occur. When many people worship Allah SWT without knowledge, more unpleasant things will happen," explained Kang Rashied.
Before preaching, he reminds to first understand the four elements of da'wah. The first element is that one needs to recognise the truth fully. He must believe in Allah SWT without even the slightest doubt and might start the da'wah following this.
Also, one should practise the tenet preached as an example for the audience. Lastly, be patient because da'wah might be not accepted completely by its audiences.
"The challenge of preaching today is unity. Moreover, the Internet possibly makes everything easier to find, thus, da'wah should be carried more creative and innovative," he said.
Kang Rashied has shared some strategies to analyse current conditions and understand the characteristics of the intended audience. For example, analysing the differences in the character of the older and millennial generation. If you already comprehend the characteristics of each, determining the media used will be effortless.
He conveyed that the millennial is more advanced in technology, familiar with social media, and accustomed to multi-tasking. For this reason, they tend to be less focus and lack of endurance. They also tend to be more interested in 3F, namely Fashion, Food, and Fun or games.
“The millennial looks smart, but has a frail spirit. This is where the preacher comes in. We can enter through this gap because they still worship without knowledge, only with their brains (reason)," he said.
Lastly, he told that Musafir TV program, in which he presented, is an example of da'wah in another form. The program and Musafir Center have become da'wah he has undertaken. Through the couple media, he has tried to spread enthusiasm to travel and to see the Greatness of Allah on earth.
"If we would like to see what challenges we will face, we have to look at the community. Recognise their characteristics, focuses, and needs, " he concluded. (nai / lil)
