It was held on November 14 2024, organized by Insan Cendikia Mandiri Boarding School, Sidoarjo. The great event was attended by the best banjari groups from various regions.
Thursina IIBS sent a team consisting of Muhammad Shafwan Marshall Akbar, Mohamad Imam Nur Naeni, Fachry Al-Bar, Azam Cahyo Wibowo, Kenzie Putra Adil Notodiharjo, Kafi Muhammad, Ihsan Syathir Alfarisq, Muhammad Azmi Al-Ghifary, Muhammad Fachry Aryasatya, and Muhammad Faiq Roghib Haqqulyaqin.
“Alhamdulillah, we are very proud of the enthusiasm and creativity of our students. They succeeded in promoting Islamic values through art, created with full dedication and interesting innovation," said Ustadz Hanafi, as a companion of the competition.
Banjari competition has three assessment categories, jingles, mandatory songs and free songs. The first was created innovatively by adapting traditional song "Gundul Pacul". The lyrics raise a positive message while promoting key values. The following are the lyrics to the jingle performed by the Banjari Thursina IIBS team: "East Java Hadroh Al-Banjari Festival held in the Insan Cendikia Mandiri Boarding School. We are from the Shoutul Ahbab prayer group. We came here to seek intercession. Keywords create disciplined and independent generation and has a leadership spirit."
Furthermore, the team performed the mandatory song "Qomarun" and the free song "Al-Hijrotu" stunningly. Ustadz Hanafi expressed his gratitude for the achievements. “This competition is not only about winning, but also a means to instill a sense of love for the Prophet Muhammad SAW. We want students to feel happiness when praying, to embed Islamic values more in their daily lives," he said.
Preceeding the event, preparation process is immensely crucial. “They worked hard to prepare themselves, learn to manage their time among tight boarding school schedules and offer their best in every training session," explained Ustadz Hanafi.
He also highlighted the importance of art in Islamic preaching. Banjari music is an effective medium for conveying Islamic messages in a beautiful way. When delivered well, prayer is able to touch anyone's heart. The Best Jingle award was a moment for Thursina IIBS, especially, since it was the first competition they joined. "I hope this award will be the first step for them to work on Islamic art. We want them to be technically competent, as well as understand the spiritual essence of each verse recited," he said.
In the end of interview, Ustadz Hanafi expressed his hopes for the future. "Hopefully the spirit of prayer grows persistently. We would build Thursina IIBS as a center for developing Islamic art that is beautiful and meaningful as well," he concluded. The award is a proud start for Thursina IIBS in banjari arts. May eagerness and perseverance of the team would show Islamic values, rooted in Islamic traditions, to life through art. (rnw/lil)
