Inspiring Leader Talk: Thursina IIBS Students Forged Into Tough Leaders
The atmosphere at the Thursina International Conference Hall (TICH) of Male Campus looked different on Tuesday morning (3/6). The hall was filled with the enthusiasm of the students, attending the Inspiring Leader Talk with Purnomo Edy Santoso, the CEO of Milestone Military Footwear and the Director of CV Support Priority Indonesia. The event carried the theme "Start Strong, Lead Smart: CEO Secrets from the Battlefield of Business". The program was aimed at strengthening leadership character and entrepreneurial insight of students of Thursina International Islamic Boarding School (IIBS).
In his speech, Purnomo Edy Santoso invited students to build a warrior mentality, especially in dealing with the challenging of business. "In the real world, business is like a battlefield. We must be ready with strategy and mental strength," Purnomo emphasized.
He shared his story of struggle from zero to establishing a national and international leather shoe company. It is now one of the providers of official shoes for Indonesian National Army (TNI), Indonesian National Police (Polri), to government agencies and private companies. He stressed on the importance of strong vision from the start. "Start with great intentions, not only for personal success, but also to benefit many people," he said.
In addition, discipline and focus are significant values. He added, a true businessman will not run away from challenges. That is precisely what forges quality.
The students are enthusiastic to observe the experiences and business strategies shared. They had the opportunity to dialogue with the speakers, share ideas and practical steps to start a business at a young age. The event has proved character education and entrepreneurship could go hand in hand in integrated Islamic education system such as in Thursina IIBS.
In the end of the session, they owned a spirit of progress more than just an inspiration. The students gained new values and eagerness to become strong, intelligent, and integrated leaders. The last message from the CEO, "Never underestimate today's small steps. It can be a big step in the future." Purnomo advises.
