Inspiring, Two Thursina IIBS Students Awarded the 2023 Russian Government Scholarship
Two Thursina International Islamic Bording School (IIBS) recently made another brilliant accomplishment. In a stroke of genius, Galih Prasetyo Jati and Malik Addien Maulana Yusuf have earned the 2023 Russian Government Scholarship. This scholarship was awarded on January 25, 2024.
The in-person selection process for the scholarship took place in the Russian Embassy in Indonesia. Since October 2023, the two 12 grade students have been undergoing a rigorous selection procedure, including administrative reviews and interviews. A key requirement of the scholarship was a formidable academic merits, with applicants needing a minimum average score of 80 on their report card.
“The first step of the Russian scholarship selection was the application. Once the application was accepted, the Russian embassy would find a suitable university, according to the student’s preference. During their first year, they would learn the language at the campus,” explained Thursina IIBS Manager of Study Abroad Admission, Ustadz Mohammad Suhaili, S.Pd.
This scholarship provide a full departure fee and tuition. Galih planned on using the scholarship to study business informatics, while Malik was interested on the international relations major.
“We are still waiting for more information from the embassy about the departure. Usually around December, at the latest, since the academic year starts on January,” added Ustadz Suhaili.
In the previous year, one Thursina IIBS alumni, Raden Galen Bratasena Wijaya, was also awarded the same scholarship.
This accomplishment was an incredible moment of pride for the entire Thursina IIBS faculty and family who has been encouraging and supporting their students in their education journey. Moving forward, Galih and Malik’s incredible feat can hopefully serves as a motivation for the other students to dare to dream big and reach for the stars. This opportunity is designed to develop students knowledge and potential, empowering them to make a positive impact for their country and community.
“We have also conducted and are currently exploring several overseas universities. The goal is for Thursina High School graduates to be able to study abroad with a scholarship program," Ustadz Suhaili concluded on a positive note.
