Inspirational Talk : Teaching Students of Tazkia Senior High School Problem Identification in Society

Tazkia International Islamic Boarding School (IIBS) held an Inspirational Talk again, collaborating with Satwa Sehat Indonesia, by the theme Identify The Problem and Solve It Properly (18/11). The CEO, drh. Albiruni Haryo, M.Sc, a speaker, talked about how to know various problems and identification from many perspectives in order to solve them with comprehensive solutions.

He explained that generally, problems can be classified into three types. First, the problems that are created, potentially to arise in the future. Typically, it stems from small things that pile up and eventually becomes a big problem. Second, the problem that is felt.  This type of problem related with a feeling and position, like a sense of disrespect.  Third, the problems that occur suddenly or are happening right away. We need to spend more time identifying and analyzing a problem to find a solution without hastiness. That is what we do at Satwa Sehat, he said.

When identifying a problem, it is crucial to look at it from multiple points of view to see if it is really a problem.  Do not get caught up in thinking about various kinds of solutions, while not thoroughly ensuring the problem at hand.  Because the quality of the solution given, equivalent to one's ability to identify the problem. As an example, we, at Satwa Sehat, start by looking at the problem in society, namely the large number of animals, especially fish, that just die and are thrown away.  This is a problem that we think should be resolved, he explained.

Doctor Albi told that, solving a problem is like playing a puzzle.  It requires the right choice and good timing to consider. Getting dragged into a problem should be avoided to get rid from more complicated one in the future.

If you already know that there are problems in the community such as, displaced animals, then start to formulate a solution. Even small action could provide solution to resolve the problem, he said.

In the final session, he told about the beginning of  Satwa  Sehat Indonesia. Initially, he would cure sick fish at the Splendid Malang Animal market and open job vacancy for others. He had to run the clinic by himself before he managed it with colleagues.

To innovate, he revealed that he and his team tried to get closer to the community, asked directly about the problems and tried to provide solutions. Experience in dealing with problems while developing the clinic has become a practice for him to hone his problem solving skills.

The world cannot be entrusted to only 1 or 2 people.  So prepare yourself because the challenges will be bigger and, certainly, need people with remarkable problem-solving skills, he concluded.  (nai/lil)
