Halal Bihalal: Merawat dan Tumbuh Bersama Thursina IIBS

The month of Syawal is known among muslims as a time of forgiveness, where muslims usually gather with their friends and family celebrating Eid Al-Fitr and asking forgiveness for any faults or hurts they may have caused in the past year. On this occasion, Thursina International Islamic Boarding School (IIBS) hosted a halal bihalal event on Monday, May 22. The event brought together all members of the faculty, including the Chairman and CEO, council expert members, management staff, teachers, educational staff, murobbi/murobbiyah, and household staff, along with their immediate families.

Ustadz Nur Abidin, M.Ed., CEO of Thursina IIBS, began his address by asking all members of the faculty to ceaselessly be grateful for the opportunity to come together in the blessed occasion in good health. Syawal is a month of rebirth for muslims after fasting  for a whole month during Ramadan, noted Ustadz Abidin. Since Allah has gracefully and mercifully forgave our sins, we also must try to improve our relationships with those around us by burying our hatchets with each other.

“This halal bihalal event is not just about forgiving one another, but this is also about reviving our minds and passion,” Ustadz Abidin emphasized.

In addition to that, Ustadz Abidin encouraged the audience to reflect on Allah SWT’s kauniyah verses, which signify His greatness through the creations surrounding us. He asked them to take a look at a tree, one of Allah’s magnificent creations that embody deep philosophical values. Trees illustrate the process of growth and development, starting from a single seed of an idea. They have roots that provide a solid foundation, a trunk where ideas flourish, and fruit that represents the sweet results of hard work and effort. Ustadz Abidin believed that this philosophy can be applied to the development of Thursina IIBS.

“That’s why it’s important for us to ponder the hard work of those who came before us as a motivation to continue to spread knowledge and good deeds in Thursina, because all of you are an important and irreplaceable part of this,” he explained.

This address was then followed by a speech from Ustadz Sentot Eko Parijatno, M.T., senior advisor of Thursina IIBS. On this occasion, he highlighted the importance of coordination in an organization. This was to remind all members of the faculties that they are a part of a bigger cause that is the institution of Thursina IIBS.

In line with Ustadz Sentot’s speech, Ustadzah Sumi Rayahu, M.M., another senior advisor of the institution, emphasized the significance of Ramadan as a month of enlightenment for educators. Ultimately, said Ustadzah Sumi, we must reflect and think about whether we have gone all out in our jihad in the world of Islamic education. In addition, she noted that there’s no doubt that fasting greatly benefits humans both from health, spiritual and social aspects.

Meanwhile, Ustadz Imam Awaludin, Lc., M.A., PhD., provided a comprehensive insight into the role of education within family settings. His lecture offered valuable knowledge about the nature of education in an Islamic family.

Wrapping up the event, Ustadz Dr. Muhammad Ali Wahyudi, M.Pd., Chairman of Thursina IIBS, inspired the audience with a brief motivational analogy involving an airplane. He explained that Thursina IIBS is like an airplane, engineered to reach specific goals efficiently and safely. Similarly, organizations also have goals they aspire to achieve, which requires effective management to make them a reality.

“That's why it's essential to establish clear navigation as a strong foundation. A skilled pilot or CEO must focus on the readiness of the crew and staff, so they can soar as high as they can and guide students toward great success,” he stressed.

In the end, all Thursina IIBS faculties shook hands and apologized to each other before joining an institutional orientation program to strengthen Thursina’s vision and mission in the upcoming academic year.
