Collaboration of International Da'wah, Thursina IIBS and As-Sholihin Mosque, Yokohama, Japan
Thursina International Islamic Boarding School (IIBS) is expanding its internasional network by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with As-Sholihin Mosque of Yokohama, Japan (12/9). Held in Female Campus of Thursina IIBS, the collaboration is a siginificant milestone between the two parties.
In an interview with Ustadz Qoirul Mansur Darojad, M.Pd, as Manager of International Teacher & Student division, it was explained that the background of the partnership was began with Da'wah Safari program initiated by Thursina IIBS in Ramadhan of 2023. The students carried out da'wah safari in several mosques in Japan, including As-Sholihin Mosque in Yokohama.
"When our students were preaching in Japan, they met with the leader of As-Sholihin Foundation. The meeting had opened a discussion about the vision and mission of da'wah, especially in spreading Islamic teachings in Japan," said Ustadz Qoirul.
It has resulted in exchange of ideas and improved relations. In the following year, in Ramadhan of 2024, the students have returned to Japan for the similar program, choosing As-Sholihin Mosque as the main destination. "Our students
were given opportunity to become imam for prayers, teach Al Qur'an for children, and be Friday preachers. Those activities strengthen our relationship with As-Sholihin Mosque, where both parties support each other for the sake of Islamic da'wah," he continued.
Seeing the great benefits and potential of this collaboration, Thursina IIBS and As-Sholihin Mosque decided to officially bind the collaboration through the signing of an MoU. Ustadz Qoirul explained that the alliance includes various programs, such as sending students for da'wah in Japan, supporting Islamic education in As-Sholihin Mosque, as well as training and knowledge exchange in da'wah and education.
"We hope it would benefit wider society, especially in supporting Islamic da'wah in Japan. The participation also becomes valuable opportunity for our students to study and preach abroad, broadening their horizons about how Islam developes in various parts of the world, he added.
The signing of MoU has showed the commitment of Thursina IIBS to contribute to international da'wah, strengthen educational and da'wah networks with Islamic institutions in global countries. (rnw/lil)
