Thursina IIBS Archery Team Wins Multiple Medals at the 2024 Perpani Competition
The archery team from Thursina International Islamic Boarding School (IIBS) delivered an outstanding performance at the Archery Competition organized by the Bekasi City Chapter of the Indonesian Archery Association in Cibubur from August 24-29, 2024. This event brought together participants from various schools and archery clubs, with Thursina IIBS standing out as one of the most anticipated contestants.
According to Ustadz Munahar Al Amin, S.Pd., the Sport & Art Coordinator at Thursina IIBS, the team underwent intensive preparation before the competition. "We had regular practice sessions for a month before the event. Training was conducted daily after school and in the afternoons at the Thursina IIBS Archery Field. This was a maximum effort to prepare the students for this prestigious competition," Ustadz Munahar explained.
During the competition, the Thursina IIBS team faced several challenges, particularly the hot weather in Cibubur, which was very different from the cooler climate in Malang where they trained. "The heat in Cibubur made the athletes quickly feel tired and thirsty. Additionally, we encountered some equipment issues, but we were able to overcome these challenges with the availability of spare parts," Ustadz Munahar revealed.
The team coach, who was part of the intensive training process, implemented a special strategy for the competition. Students were encouraged to focus during practice and continuously improve based on evaluations after each session. "This strategy was aimed at helping the students show positive progress in every practice and remain consistent throughout the competition," added Ustadz Munahar.
A total of 27 Thursina IIBS students participated in the competition, competing in various categories, including Compound U18, National Standard U18, Compound U15, and National Standard U15. In this competition, the team from the Compound U15 category won 1st and 3rd places in the team event. "This is a proud achievement and the result of the hard work of the entire team, along with the enthusiastic support from the students' parents," said Ustadz Munahar.
Looking ahead to similar competitions in the future, the Thursina IIBS team plans to continue regular practice sessions both independently and with the coach. They will also maintain their physical fitness to stay in prime condition. "We are committed to improving the quality of our training and maintaining the students' fitness so they can perform optimally in upcoming competitions," concluded Ustadz Munahar.
With the achievements gained and a well-prepared plan, Thursina IIBS demonstrates a high level of dedication to archery, proving that the Thursina IIBS team is one to be reckoned with at the national and even international level. (rnw/lil)
