Thursina IIBS and Flinders University Sign MoU for Expanding Access to Global Education
Thursina International Islamic Boarding School (IIBS) has officially signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Flinders University in Bedford Campus, Adelaide, Australia, on Friday (23/5). It was the result of initiation and discussion for the past two years.
The collaboration aims to promote overseas study program of Thursina IIBS through expanding access to scholarships, developing joint programs in the education sector, as well as improving the quality of human resources.
The representatives of Thursina IIBS attending the event were the Chairman of Thursina IIBS, Ustadz Dr. M. Ali Wahyudi, a CEO who is also an alumnus of Flinders University, Ustadz Nur Abidin, M. Ed, a Senior Advisor, Ustadz Eko Parijatno, MM and a Manager of Study Abroad Enrollment and International Relations, Ustadz Mohammad Suhaili. Meanwhile, Flinders University was represented by Prof. Bill Damachis as a Director of International Partnerships along with five managers from the international partnership division.
The scope of cooperation includes Thursina Award Scholarship, an exclusive scholarship for Thursina students with 20% discount on tuition fees, the opportunity to receive a Vice Chancellor International Scholarship of up to 50%, and access to various scholarships from government agencies and local Australian companies.
In addition, the partnership consists of the development of Australia-Indonesia Classroom as an academic preparation and cross-cultural understanding course, specifically for those interested in studying in Australia.
Thursina IIBS will also develop teacher skills through access to lecture materials in Master of Education program in Flinders University, as well as running a pathway program for language mastering and bridging to universities in Australia.
Related to STEM teaching, Thursina will establish sister school partnership with Australian Science and Mathematics School (ASMS) to improve the quality of science and mathematics learning.
Following the signing, the Thursina team had the opportunity to tour the Tonsley Campus, known as the factory of the future for Australia industrial sector, and visit the latest medical research facilities equipped with world-class research technology.
Flinders University welcomed the collaboration with enthusiasm and affirmed its commitment to support he development of global education, especially for students and teachers from Indonesia. (lil)
