Contributing the Best Ideas, Thursina IIBS Students Bring Home Four Medals from IID 2024
Male students of Thursina Islamic Boarding School (IIBS) have once again made brilliant achievements in the international arena. In the Inventors Day competition 2024, held online on August 28-31 2024, they managed to secure a number of medals through extraordinary innovations. Under the guidance of Ustadz Zainur, four teams of male students competed and achieved impressive results.
The Tabebuya team, consisting of Muhammad Abdul Adzim Yaasin and Raihan Naufal Fadhil, won the Bronze Medal. They submitted a research entitled "Extraction, Characterization, and Antiobesity Properties Testing of Ethanol Extract from Tabebuia rosea Stem Bark", examining the effect of ethanol extract from Tabebuya stem bark on obesity. Ustadz Zainur explained this research emphasizes the power of local-plant use with medical potential.
The second is The Deodorant Team, including Pasha Zaki Ilmany, Dzulfiqar Achmad Alif Firdausy, Istna Hasan Abdurrahim, and Darell Rafif Brisadi Agung. They have succeeded in winning the Silver Medal with their research entitled "Deodorant of Ethanol Extract of Malang Apple Peels (Mallus sylvestris Mill) as an Alternative Solution for Armpits Odor Removal". The research has tried to find an innovative solution by using Malang apple peel as an active ingredient in natural deodorant. "This innovation has great potential because it uses environmentally friendly materials," said Ustadz Zainur.
Eco Ceiling, the third team, namely Muhammad Adinata Parikesit, Muhammad Affryzal Pasha Perdana, Kholilullah Ar Rosydi, Muhammad Rizky Ananda Faisal, Muhammad Fitra Adzikra, and Dzikra Habiburrahman, gained a Bronze Medal. Their research, "Eco-Ceiling: Utilizing Styrofoam as a Mixture in the Ceiling", functions Styrofoam waste as a material for walls and ceilings, showing innovation in dealing with waste problems.
The greatest achievement, finally, was attained by the Sunbynanaa Team, involving Muhammad Dhonan Chilmi, Muhammad Daivan Akbar Fadhlah, Azka Hafianto, Sayydina Khoira Nabil Akmal Topani, and Muhammad Hisyam Fawwaz. They won a Gold Medal with research entitled "Sunbynanaa: Exploring Green Beauty Through Organic Waste-Based Skincare Lotions". It explores the use of banana peel waste from industry as basic ingredient for skin care lotion.
The contribution from Thursina IIBS was instrumental with advanced facilities such as 3D printers, hotplates and laboratory space on their convenience for them exploring and focusing on their research. Besides, their parents fully support them to be well participating on this occation. With achievements in the Inventors Day 2024, Thursina IIBS male students have proven that they are able to compete in the international level with beneficial innovations for wider community. (rnw)
