Tazkia IIBS Invited Scholar of Keio University to Encourage Students Studying Abroad
The preparation for continuing education is on going. Lately, Tazkia International Islamic Boarding School (IIBS) held sharing session (03/17) , inviting Nurul Fadilah, the students of Keio University, Japan. Situated in both male and female campuses, over 20 students of overseas study program participated in the agenda. Nurul shared her experience as student and muslim abroad.
The alumni of Durhan School, England, told that her journey studying abroad starting from her adolescent, 14 years old. During high school, she had learnt about the significance of making friends and edifying faith as muslimah at the same time. It is because she is the only muslim in her school.
She explained that emotional maturity holds substantial role when planning to study abroad. One should comprehend herself deeply. "If we know ourselves, limit, and persistence well, it would be easier to adapt", said the student of third semester in Human Security major.
Furthermore, Nurul revealed that PPI (Persatuan Pelajar Indonesia), Indonesian Student Association, would help in adjustment phase when studying abroad. One also should be opened to be well adapted by being friendly and approachable to get closer with friends.
Lastly, the girl from Bandung emphasised to stick to our principle and identity during living overseas. "We have to believe to our identity, therefore, our circles will adapt to us," she says.
Mohammad Suhaili, Deputy Manager of Tazkia International Partnership (TIP), supposed the talk would encourage students to prepare themselves studying abroad. In addition, the program is expected to allay students' concerns about studying in foreign countries due to their ignorance of the real conditions out there.
"Next, students will continue the supervision program based on enrolment requirements of each targeted university," he closed the statement.
