The Student of Tazkia IIBS is Ready to Bounce Ideas in Youth Parliament 2020
Tazkia International Islamic Boarding School (IIBS) would take part in Youth Parliament 2020, the event of Secretary General of DPR RI through Parliamentary News Bureau, represented by Muhammad Bintang Akbar, the student of grade 11.
He and other 133 participants would explore innovative ideas to formulate a policy to fight Covid-19 pandemic. The event would be held virtually in parliamentary session simulation on 2-6 of November 2020.
The Youth Parliament is an event, providing an understanding to adolescents or high school / vocational high school students and the equivalent about the process of developing public policies in parliament. Also, it fosters a critical attitude of youth about the political process in Indonesia. The participants will represent the Elected Regions (Dapil) based on their electoral districts in the Legislative Member Election of the DPR RI. Two participants with the best score will be elected for each electoral district. Specifically for electoral districts in West, Central and East Java, they will only choose one participant with the best score.
Bintang passed some steps in selection stage, including curriculum vitae (CV), essay, and campaign video against Covid-19. Ustadz Wildan Pradistya Putra as the supervisor revealed that Bintang promoted "Collaboration and Mutual Cooperation Against Covid-19 ” as his idea.
The theme of collaboration was used as well in the video posted in social media. For the hard work, Bintang successfully represented electoral district of East Java V, beating other 6257 participants from all over Indonesia.
"The Youth Parliament is an annual event, held initially in 2008, drawing attention from all students in Indonesia. The success of Bintang is our success and should be grateful," he said.
The supervisor told that the participant would be supervised regularly for couple weeks following his academic schedule. The training is including public speaking, procedures and ethics of discussion, and discussion related to the event. Online training would make it easier for him to discuss with the coach anytime outside the regular schedule of supervision.
"During the process of preparation, enrolment, and assessment, Tazkia cooperated well and encouraged Bintang actively to enter the event. Even the teachers supervised him properly especially in writing essay," he said.
Ustadz Wildan supposed that Bintang could participate fully in the event and be the excellent participant this year. Having valuable experience would hone his leadership skill from the early years.
