Thursina International Islamic Boarding School (IIBS) has repeatedly made brilliant achievements in the global scale. This time, Thursina IIBS female students succeeded in earning the Silver Award in the International Science Project Competition (ISPC) organized by Indonesian Young Scientist Association (IYSA) on 30 of August to 2 of September 2024, situated at Muhammadiyah University of Malang.

The team of five consists of Felita Delfina Sandra (Team Leader), Zarin Aleesya Shabira, Marira Shofa Agus, Khayla Faeyza Nurima Salim, and Fawnia Zara Zubairi. They successfully promoted their research entitled "NGASAK: A Catalyst for Community Resilience and Sustainable Agriculture in Malang , East Java”. It focuses on traditional agricultural practices in Tegalweru Village, Malang, known as “Ngasak”.

In the interview session, Felita Delfina Sandra as a Team Leader explained, "Our research raises "Ngasak" as a catalyst for community resilience and sustainable agriculture in Malang. "This is a traditional practice, supporting soil and water conservation, while improving the welfare of farmers in the area."

Zarin Aleesya Shabira, furthermore, added, "We are exploring how the "Ngasak" method could maintain the quality of soil and water resources in Tegalweru Village. Through interviews and observations, we found that “Ngasak” is effective in increasing sustainability of natural resources. The aim of the research is to recommend additional training for farmers, support from the government, and collaboration with research institutions to advance these practices."

The ISPC competition was attended by participants from various countries online and offline. Even though it was conducted digitally, the team was able to compete with participants from all over the world. "We delivered presentation via Zoom, met and discussed with competitors from different countries," said Ananda Felita.

In the end of the interview, Zarin expressed her pleasure and moved for her team achievement. "Winning a Silver Medal is a pride for us. We are grateful to Thursina IIBS who always provides full facilities and support. Also, we are thankful to our parents who always pray for us and give great encouragement."
