Realising the Road Map, Thursina IIBS Plans to Become a Center of Excellence
Following the last year holidays, all Thursina International Islamic Boarding School (IIBS) human resources attended institutional reorientation meeting for several days lasted on January 5, 2025. Initiated with a session entitled "Thursina & Identity Orientation" delivered by four main speakers: the Chairman of Thursina IIBS, Ustadz Dr. Muhammad Ali Wahyudi; the CEO of Thursina IIBS, Ustadz Nur Abidin, M.Ed; Thursina IIBS Senior Advisor, Ustadz Ir. Sentot Eko Parijatno, M.T; and the Chief of Endowment Fund & Partnership, Ustadz Imam Awaludin, Lc, M.A, Ph.D.
The great theme issued is "Revisiting Our Vision & Mission: Road To The Center of Excellence". Ustadz Ir. Sentot Eko Parijatno, in his speech, emphasized the necessity of adapting to the advancement of time and technology as one of the main foundations in building an excellent generation.
He stated teachers have a strategic role in creating relevant and effective learning for students, especially in this fast-paced era. "The science and technology followed must be fast and must leap," he said, emphasizing that the ability to keep up with developments is not enough; a leap of innovation is required to stay ahead. Teachers who are able to master the acceleration of technology and developments over time will enhance the quality of learning, and inspire students to be pioneers of change as well.
However, he also reminded that amidst the rapid flow of modernisation, honesty remains the major value that should not be ignored. "With honesty, Thursina should become the Center of Excellence," he said confidently. It is a moral foundation, ensuring all knowledge and technology obtained are used for the common virtues. The combination of technological competence and moral integrity is believed would promote Thursina as a center of excellence, both achieving success and advantaged for people.
Meanwhile, Ustadz Imam Awaludin explained that the Center of Excellence (CoE) should be started from excellent individual or "Self Excellence". "The vision of life for muslim is to achieve kindness in the world and hereafter. Our main mission is to worship Allah. Thus, all the work we do, including building an excellent generation, should be intended as worship," he said.
In line with that, Ustadz Dr. Muhammad Ali Wahyudi pays special attention to the role of teachers and human resources (HR) as differentiating elements, noticing Thursina IIBS more superior among other educational institutions. The qualified teachers and human resources not only determines the effectiveness of learning, but also becomes a solid foundation for establishing globally competitive educational institutions.
"The characteristics of Center of Excellence (CoE) include a team of experts, focusing on certain areas, scientific collaboration, innovation and the use of the latest technology," he explained. Affirming that a boarding school should demonstrate excellence in the certain aspects to transform to the CoE.
He added that Thursina's predominance lies in its brainware, outstanding manpower, in terms of competency, innovation and global insight. "It will be implemented through an internationally minded research, training and development center," he conveyed. By integrating cutting-edge technology and a collaborative approach, Thursina would have intelligently, emotionally and spiritually tough students. Ustadz Dr. Muhammad Ali Wahyudi highlighted that by focusing on human resource development and a culture of innovation, Thursina would persistently bolster its position as a reference of Islamic educational institution in local and international levels.
The CEO of Thursina IIBS, Ustadz Nur Abidin, M.Ed., stated one of the great visions of Thursina journey, the fundamental key persists preparing the graduates to compete and be accepted in the 100 best universities in the world. "All praise be to Allah, Thursina High School alumni have started to occupy the top 100 multinational campuses," he said gratefully. The achievement is a clear proof that implemented education in Thursina has been excelled in the academic and built competitive generation in the global level as well. Additionally, he said that as many as 26 alumni have studied in reputable universities in Indonesia, reflecting the equivalence between global achievements and domestic contributions.
Furthermore, he explained that Thursina's strategic roadmap towards a Center of Excellence (CoE) has been designed to run until 2029. One of them is the establishment of Thursina Excellence Center (TEC), a research, reference and development center for Islamic education to strengthen Thursina's position as educational institution to become inspiration and reference in various fields. TEC will later be a forum for collaboration among academics, practitioners and experts to innovate in learning based on Islamic values that are relevant to current developments.
Ustadz Nur Abidin, M.Ed., conveyed, with this determination and strategic steps, Thursina not only build a superior generation, but also creates educational ecosystem with broad impact on people, in the nationwide and worldwide scales.
The reorientation is the starting course of action for Thursina IIBS to consolidate its commitment in achieving the vision as a Center of Excellence, including academic and spiritual development as well as educational innovation in the national and international levels. (lil)
