Raising Environmental and Health Issues, Thursina IIBS Students Procured Medals in INOVA 2024
The male student team from Thursina International Islamic Boarding School (IIBS) recorded remarkable achievement by winning bronze medal in Indonesia Inventors Day 2024. The event was held on 28 to 31 of August 2024, both online and offline in Denpasar, Bali, by INOVA (International Innovation), displaying technological and scientific innovations from participants around the world.
Thursina IIBS sent two teams with innovative projects. The first team, consisting of Mohammad Rafie Sulthan, Muhammad Rafi Althaf Wiratara, Muhammad Dzaky Al Syaddad, and Azzam Qowimuzaky, took part in the Environmental Protection, Energy, Water and Sanitation category with the project entitled "RIVEN" (Trivergent Energy). It focuses on utilizing renewable energy, such as solar power, wind and sea waves, to optimize electricity supply for the Tsunami Early Detection System (TEDS). The innovation aims to ensure the sustainability and reliability of TEDS to be fully functioned, especially in emergency situations, therefore it improves public safety and preserves the environment.
The second team, including Bima Ramadhan Syabibi, Muhammad Zain Anshory, Muhammad Rizky Albari, Raihan Naufal Fadhil, Ach. Dzakii Firmansyah Al Choir A., Zhafi Mahfudz Ubaidillah, and Sadid Jundi Furqoni, competed in the Pharmacy, Health, Medicine and Therapy category. Entitled "P-PACT”: Portable Arduino-Based PCR Thermocycler For Low-Cost Public Health Diagnosis Technology, the design intends to develop a portable Arduino-based PCR device. It works to carry out low-cost health diagnosis, especially in remote areas where access to medical facilities is arduous. The program is expected to speed up the process of disease detection and advance the quality of health services in local communities.
Both teams decided to join via online due to limited offline participation. Despite this, they faced tough challenges during their research, taking months to complete the project. Ustadz Helmi Pakas Rivai, M.Pd, a supervisor and Chair of Professional Department & CEO in Thursina IIBS, explained that the encouragement from the school is enourmous. "Thursina IIBS has assisted with generous support. The teams obtain adequate time and conveniences to conduct their research. I always remind them to stay focused on their goals," he said.
The collaboration of school support, team dedication, and tireless hard work has led the couple teams to victoriously earn bronze medals in Indonesia Inventors Day 2024. "The thriumphs are an honor for the school, as well as considerable potential and enthusiasm of the students in dealing with global challenges. The attainment is a symbol of determination in progressing creative solutions to offer real benefits to broader communities," concluded Ustadz Helmi. (rnw/lil)
