The Prime! Thursina IIBS Holds TESLA 2025, Themed Holistic Educational Leadership
Thursina International Islamic Boarding School (IIBS) held Teacher & School Leader Conference (TESLA) 2025 at Thursina Islamic Conference Hall. The event was attended by 225 participants from 72 educational institutions, consisting of teachers and school leaders from various regions. With 15 topics of discussion, TESLA is a place to share and develop insights for educators, especially in improving the quality of leadership and learning in schools.
Ustadz Muhammad Rajab, M.Pd.I.,, the Chief of Education of Thursina IIBS opened the agenda with a studium generale themed "Being The Center of Excellence: Holistic Education Leadership for Effective School". In his speech, he emphasized the power of holistic and balanced educational leadership, in order to create effective and excellent schools. "We are here to gather, think, share, and foster the spirit in the world of education," said Ustadz Rajab.
He explained further, being a center of excellence is the spirit of Islam. As mentioned in the Quran: "You are the best community ever raised for humanity—you encourage good, forbid evil, and believe in Allah" (Ali Imran: 110). Thursina IIBS invites participants to continue learning and developing themselves through TESLA.
He, also, stated the reason why Thursina IIBS prioritizes holistic and balanced education. Despite implementing a diverse curriculum, education in Thursina IIBS is carried out proportionally by sustaining the psychological balance and physical health of students. “Holistic curriculum in Thursina includes Al-Quran and Islamic study, national and international curriculum, as well as self-development. "The approach aims to equip students with comprehensive and relevant knowledge to the demands of times," said Ustadz Rajab.
Preserving ethical old traditions and concepts remains crucial, however adopting a novel practice and ideas is necessary as well. He mentioned some challenges of teachers and educational leaders today, such as moral issues, mental health, violence, and the dangers of drugs and technological developments. "It is essential to develop character, manners, and awareness of literacy and digital ethics, so that students have noble moral values," he said.
