Preparing for the Real World: Thursina IIBS Sends Students for Internship in 32 Companies

As one of the final steps in the specialization pathway program, Thursina International Islamic Boarding School (IIBS) launched an internship series for its students across 32 corporations nationwide. A total of 45 students were placed in these companies to gain real-world experience and apply the knowledge they have acquired in their specialization pathways.

Ustadz Helmi Pakas Rivai, M.Pd., head of the CEO specialization pathway, emphasized that the internship series is a critical component of the program, providing students with the opportunity to apply their theoretical knowledge directly in an industry setting. Beyond that, he noted how this internship series is designed to bridge the gap between the lessons they have learned at school and the practical work experience they need.

“Through this program, students have the rare chance to expand their professional networks and build a portfolio that may benefit their future,” Ustadz Helmi explained.

Prior embarking on this journey, these students were equipped with essential knowledge related to becoming a CEO, such as personnel management, organizational development, and leadership inspired by the Prophet’s principles. Meanwhile, students from other specialization pathways also received preparation and briefings before being assigned to their respective internship locations.

For two weeks, these students will work on tasks given by their supervisors, focusing on developing soft skills that can only be acquired through direct work in their fields. To ensure accountability to the school, they were also required to put together a report with necessary documentation about their internship.

Upon completing this program, students are expected to integrate their theoretical knowledge with practical experience, particularly in terms of management and leadership. “This internship is an opportunity for them to learn directly from industry professionals and grow within the business world,” Ustadz Helmi added.

For this initiative, students were placed in various corporations that partner with Thursina IIBS. Some also interned at family-owned businesses or government agencies where their parents work, facilitating supervision.
