Excellent ! 3 Thursina Students Gain Bronze Medals in Physics Championship
Thursina International Islamic Boarding School (IIBS) students (Tasya Refeyfa Zali, Tengku Najmah, and Kelsa Athallah) succeeded in attaining bronze medal in the physics competition organized by International Applied Physics Competition (IAPC), held in Bandung (23/5).
The physics competition is writing olympiad, competing with other participants. They have to pass preliminary round in each country and those who qualified will enter the semifinals, following by the final round.
In the preliminary and semi-final round, they complete problem solving questions. While, in the final, they have two sessions. Firstly, working on problem solving questions and secondly, answering case study questions.
"All praise be to Allah, it was beyond expectations to pass the preliminaries, enter the final and gain bronze medal," said Tasya. They prepared for this competition thoroughly by getting used to practicing English to answer the exercises.
"One of the things we do during preparation is practicing questions about the Olympics, so we get used to it and know the pattern when we meet the real questions," he added.
Ustaz Muhammad Akbar Nadhiif, M.Pd, as the supervisor, hopes this achievement can be an incentive for his fellow students and juniors to take part in the Olympics.
"Hopefully, in the future, Thursina students would get used to take part in international competitions and train themselves to use English, therefore they develop an internationally minded character because they meet students from various countries," he concluded. (qom/hel/lil)
