Providing a Platform for Self-Actualization in the Language and Quran Field, TSA Holds QLF 2025
Thursina Quran Language Festival (QLF) has officially opened. The event took place at Thursina International Islamic Boarding School (IIBS), on February 1-6, 2025. It is an annual festival for students to hone their talents and abilities in three main areas, namely English, Arabic, and Quran competitions, led by Thursina Student Association (TSA).
English competitions included storytelling, speech, sing a song and spelling bee. Arabic competitions consisted of Taqdimul Qishoh, Khitobah, Nasyid, and Imla. While, the Quran competitions were filled with Musabaqah Tilawatil Quran (MTQ), Musabaqah Syarhil Quran (MSQ), and Musabaqah Hifzhil Quran (MHQ). In addition, there were quiz competitions, drama, fashion shows, cheers and attributes. Both female and male students welcomed the QLF eagerly. Besides competing, students were invited to master their skills and love the language and values of the Quran, especially in their daily life.
The Vice Principal of English Development and the person in charge of QLF, Ustadz Sulton Mistam, S.Pd. said, the festival has become an annual event since the establishment of Thursina IIBS in 2014. What is different, this year, QLF themed Folktales, with the tagline "From Tales We Rise and Thrive". The event was managed by English, Arabic, and Quran development divisions, in collaboration with Thursina Student Association (TSA).
Furthermore, he explained that Folktales concerned on folk tales, fairy tales, and urban legends alike. The major values learned were about character building and identity development. Students would understand more deeply about culture and science from stories. "All male and female Students participated in the similar competitions in QLF", added Ustadz Sulton.
They were guided by their Academic Advisors during the competition and required to send representatives from each class and batch. Ustadz Sulton hopes QLF would fire enthusiasm of students to persistently learn and improve their abilities in Arabic and English, as well as deepening the meaning and beauty of the Quran. In line with the mission of Thursina IIBS, providing a religious, challenging, and reward-oriented learning environment, as well as focusing on holistic and balanced education to build young generation who are morally good, inspiring, and globally minded.
