Internal Audit as Strategic Step of Thursina IIBS Towards Sustainable Improvement
Thursina International Islamic Boarding School (IIBS) is committed to implement a quality management system based on international standards. The goal is to run all work processes persistently, effectively, and well-documented, especially related to education. Internal audits are carried out as internal control to ensure all procedures meeting the standards along with continual improvement.
It took place on April 28-May 8, 2025, involving the Management Representative (MR), Board of Directors, all managers, and the whole personnels. Team collaboration is vital to support the working system and understand their respective roles.
Ustadzah Harismaning Aulia, M.Sc., as MR of Thursina IIBS, stated the preparation begins with internal audit schedule, the selection of a competent internal auditor, and briefing or refreshment for the ISO 9001:2015 standard. In addition, each unit is asked to prepare supporting documents, such as quality procedures, work instructions, and relevant quality records. Audit simulations are carried out to introduce the team with actual audit process. "The procedure is checked periodically through regular meetings, internal audits and reviewed in management meetings," she added.
Despite short time on preparing documents, as well as tension during the audit process, the team try to provide regular training, build a sustainable quality culture, and create educational and supportive audit atmosphere, neither judgmental.
Internal audit is one way to identify areas that need to be improved, both in the learning process, student and guardian services, and management governance. Moreover, audit findings have provided objective evaluation materials, not assumptions.
Ustadzah Aulia hopes the culture of quality will be deeply instilled in all teams of Thursina IIBS, academicians, teachers, staffs, and managements, having a quality mindset in every single activity. Also, the Quality Assurance (QA) system and the spirit of Continuous Improvement will be perpetually maintained. "Therefore Thursina IIBS would offer developing quality Islamic education services, professional in building the character of a generation that is morally excellent, internationally minded, and inspiring as a leader," she concluded.
