Thursina International Islamic Boarding School (IIBS) continued to show appreciation for faculty exellence in the 2022/2023 Thursina Awards. Held on Tuesday, January 2, the event celebrated members of faculty with outstanding dedication on keeping the academic wheel running. It recognized teachers and staffs with exceptional performance across various departments, with several of them being honored as a role model who inspired students to achieve great success, further elevating Thursina's name.

With the theme of A Moment of Excellent, the event gave out awards in 7 categories to high-achieving faculty members. The first category, Recap of Employees Achievements, honored teachers and staffs who actively publish their works in mass media outlets, scientific journals, and books as well as those who frequently participated in competitions. The second category, Most Caring Employees Awards, celebrated home-room teachers and boarding school staffs who showed great compassion in their line of work. The third category, Non Acadmic Achievement Awards, were given to members of faculty who actively encouraged students to strive for high level achievements.

The Special Awards Category highlighted the remarkable achievement of the team of tahfiz teachers who successfully guides 18 students to memorize all 30 juz of the Quran. They were given a total 57 million rupiah as a token of appreciation for their dedication. The Learning Inovation (Inobel) Contest Awards became a highly anticipated category, it was ultimately won by Ustadzah Roro Syariaty Sani, M.Si. It was then followed by the Best Employees Awards, celebrating those faculty members regularly and actively participated in development programs. Last but not least, the Most Dedicated Employees Awards, were given to those who have shown exceptional dedication and devotion to the development of Thursina IIBS. This prestigious award was won by Ustadz Imam Baehaqi, S.Com., M.M, Ustadz Rois Haqiqi, M.Pd and Abah Imam.

During the ceremony, Thursina IIBS’ Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Ustadz Nur Abidin, M. Ed. expressed his greatest appreciation to the award winners through his speech. He emphasized that Thursina’s growth and success is a direct result of the help, sincerity, and hard-work of its faculty members. Hopefully, this award not only served as a celebration for the achievements of faculty members, but also further motivate the students of Thursina IIBS. 

He continued, “we would like to thank you profusely for your hard work and dedication. May the enthusiasm and sacrifice you have shown be accepted as an act of worship before Allah SWT.”

Furthermore, Ustadz Abidin explained that the spirit Thursina Awards  is expected to be a momentum that could continue to spur enthusiasm among staffs and encouraged them to actively engage  in Human Resoruce development programs. He hoped that in the future, Thursina’s faculty could play a more significant and strategic roles, not only among the students but also in the larger community. 

"Thursina's faculty are made up entirely of exceptional people, but today we are represented by several brothers and sisters who have received the awards. If you’re not among them this time, Insyaallah, next year will be your turn. The point is,  your work here goes beyond any awards that we can give you. You have given your best, let this moment serve as a reminder that Thursina is also committed to giving its best to all of you," he added.

Thursina IIBS’ Syariah Councilman, Ustadz Fathurrahman Hafizhahullah, also shared a message in this opportunity. He urged everyone to express their gratitude to Allah SWT who has given them great blessings in the rapid development of Thursina IIBS over the past 9 years. "You can't have the slightest bit of arrogance in your heart, because all of this is a blessing of Allah SWT," he marked.

Reflecting on the institution’s growth in its young age, Ustadz Fathurrahman highlighted Thursina’s immense potential. He stressed the importance of striving for an even greater impact in Thursina’s 9th year than it did in the past.

“The impact for the ummah and the struggle of this religion,” he clarified. “We have to continuously evaluate how much impact we are making. Hopefully it will make a positive difference, not only for students and their parents but also for our human resources."

He also encouraged Thursina IIBS faculty to continue their sincere and hard work, giving their best professionally and continuously make improvements. "We must do our best, because that is our dedication to Allah SWT," he concluded.

During the ceremony, Ustadz M. Ali Wahyudi, M.Pd, Chairman of the Thursina Malang Islamic Foundation, and Ustadz Ir. Sentot E. Parijatno, from the Expert Council, also took turns giving their appreciation and support in front of all the board of directors, managers and staffs from all departments.

Thursina Awards is an annual agenda meant to honor members of faculty in various fields. The event was a key part of the series of festivities celebrating Thursina IIBS’ 9th anniversary. The celebration also included events such as free circumcision program, blood drive, social service activities, and muhasabah. In the end, the festivities concluded with a family gathering program.
