Thursina IIBS Archery Team Triumphs at Perpani Cup, Brings Home 9 Medals
Thursina International Islamic Boarding School (IIBS) archery team made another glorious victory at the 3rd Indonesian Archery Association (Perpani) Cup of Malang Regency 2024. The team brought home a total of 9 medals; 3 golds, 3 silvers, and 3 bronzes on July 25.
The championship, held at the Ardirejo Village football field in Kepanjen, brought together skilled archers from various archery clubs in Malang regency. It opened a diverse range of archery categories from standard bow to compound for both students and the general public.
The Thursina team secured three gold medals across different championship categories. The high school standard bow category was won by Kyran Zuhdy from 11th grade, the high school compound category was won by Ariel Prawinata from 12th grade, meanwhile M. Fachry Aryasatya from 9th grade came out victorious as the winner of the general compound category.
The team also earned three silver medals, each from distinct categories. Revan Aulia Akbar, also in 9th grade, won the junior high school standard bow category. Nawwaf Achmad Zaky from 8th grade claimed the silver in the middle school compound category, and M. Dzulfikar Rizky Ramadhan, another 9th grader, won the silver in the general compound category.
On top of all of those brilliant victories, three students achieved bronze medals: M. Irfan Ardiansyah from 8th grade in the middle school standard bow category, Ahmedinejad Asad from 8th grade in the middle school compound category, and Andra Kenzie Daniswara from 8th grade in the general compound category.
“Alhamdulillah, this is my first win in the first championship I participated in. Of course, this achievement is a memorable moment for me and will encourage me to achieve even better things,” said Nawwaf Achmad Zaky who won a silver medal.
The 8th grader admitted that during his preparation, he didn't do many things. He realized he needed to focus and manage his time effectively to train with maximum concentration. "In archery, a strong commitment and full concentration are essential when aiming for the target," he stated.
Ustadz Munahar Al-Amin, S.Pd., the coordinator of Sports and Arts at Thursina IIBS, emphasized that these victories demonstrate the skill and quality of Thursina IIBS’ athletes. This success stemmed from the confidence and mental readiness that had been fostered from the outset.
"Of course this victory is very memorable. These children had worked very hard to prepare for this. After a long day at school, they chose to train outdoors with their coach instead of resting,” he explained.
According to Ustadz Munahar, in order to motivate them, it is essential to continue encouraging and pushing students to develop their talents, especially by participating in competitions. This is one way to honor the great sacrifices that their parents had made for them. “One of the ways to motivate students is to instill an attitude of relentlessness and perseverance in training. We must stress that the process will never betray the result, this is very important so students will respect and appreciate every step of their learning process,” he elaborated.
Ultimately, he hoped these victories would inspire other Thursina IIBS students to continue striving for excellence. “We want these children to persist and not give up easily. From the very beginning, we told them that what matters most is that they try their best, winning is just a bonus. It’s essential to put in maximum prayers and effort, regardless of the competition,” he concluded.
