THURSINA TOTAL SYSTEM EDUCATION APPROACH FOR BETTER EDUCATION QUALITY

Allah SWT says:


اِنَّ فِيْ خَلْقِ السَّمٰوٰتِ وَا لْاَ رْضِ وَا خْتِلَا فِ الَّيْلِ وَا لنَّهَا رِ لَاٰ يٰتٍ لِّاُولِى الْاَ لْبَا بِ 


"Indeed, in the creation of the heavens and the earth and the alternation of the day and night there are signs for people of reason." (QS. Ali 'Imran 3: verse 190)


A. System in Organisation

An organisational system, including educational institutions, can be analogised into a tree. Generally, it has 4 (four) main parts: roots, stems, leaves, flowers or fruits. If these parts stunted, a tree will easily fall and die. Likewise organisation, all these parts are significant and have respective functions and roles so that the tree grows healthy and strong.


B. Current Education Problems and Challenges 

1. Golden Indonesia Vision 2045

Indonesia Vision in 2045 places education (human development) in the first position. It means education is the key to change and success in the  future of Indonesia.


2. Global Village

Today, young generation live in global village, engaging with new friends worldwide, cultural acculturation, and wider competition in the world of work and business. Surely, quality and holistic education is adequate response for the recent phenomenon. 


3. Parent Enlightenment 

The parents start to be fully aware, the new era demands their sons and daughters to be more prepared for life. Education is expected to offer set of knowledge, values ​​and skills relevant to the world challenges, yet maintain strong belief.


C. A Solution: Total System Based Education 


Allah says:


اِنَّ اللّٰهَ يُحِبُّ الَّذِيْنَ يُقَا تِلُوْنَ فِيْ سَبِيْلِهٖ صَفًّا كَاَ نَّهُمْ بُنْيَا نٌ مَّرْصُوْصٌ


"Surely Allah loves those who fight in His cause in ˹solid˺ ranks as if they were one concrete structure." 

(QS. As-Saff 61: verse 4)


Thursina IIBS believes educational challenges would be resolved with more comprehensive and well-systemized approach or Total System Education Approach.


It adopts 7 (seven) main principles of ISO 9001:2015 quality management system,  implemented according to educator context in Thursina IIBS, including :


1. Customer Focus

The principle shows organisation commitment to meet the needs of students and parents as the main da'wah target as fine as possible, and even beyond their expectations. Creating graduates who are morally excellent, internationally minded and inspiring leaders is the major objectives, entailed maintenance and fulfillment.


2. Leadership

Leadership basis guarantees organisational components to have proper goal and direction, as well as create supportive environment to involve its members in achieving the  mission of organisation. Thursina IIBS applies collective leadership, strategic policies frequently decided based on the result of board consensus meetings.



3. People Engagement 

People engagement is crucial to build individual commitment toward organisation. Thursina IIBS designs digital communication and information system, Thursina Smart Education System (TSES), to ensure the information dissemination and communication is effective and open to students, parents, staffs and other stakeholders. Besides, the campuses are developed to be environmentally friendly (green campus) and comfortable to provide environmental education and support, also, build positive social interactions.


4. Process Approach 

Thursina IIBS administers standard processes from teaching to housekeeping services guided by predetermined SOP. In teaching, specifically, all teachers are requisite to use HOLISTIC teaching method  to encourage students to advantage critical and high order thinking. The process approach believes the top results are able to achieve with the finest processes.  Control and monitoring (do) are conducted rigidly in some stages.


5. Improvement 

Every organisation has to focus on improving or enhancing efforts to accomplish its goals or vision and mission. The human capital development (HCD) quality assurance plays a significant role on  this aspect.


6. Evidence Based Decision Making

Each decision ought to be based on data analysis and evaluation to gain the expected and constructive results. The concept is, especially, applied in preparing assessment standards for exams, evaluating learning progress by counseling department, human resource performance and effectiveness of all program accomplishments in Thursina.


7. Relationship  Management

Maintaining harmonious relationships with related parties, including fellow students, teachers and staffs, parents and the third parties is predominant. Thursina IIBS holds the values of ​​Religious, Caring, Open Minded, Inspiring (RECODING) in strengthening these social relationships and interactions.


These values ​​become living guiding principles that have to be established by all residents without exception, from the management level to technical supports in the field. By adhering to the RECODING fundamentals, hopefully, school and organisational culture is healthy, caring and respectful.
