Prospective Thursina IIBS Students Experienced Pesantren Life in Islamic Super Camp 2023

Thursina International Islamic Boarding School (IIBS) recently hosted its second Islamic Super Camp (ISC) program of 2023, aimed at introducing accepted prospective students to the learning culture and environment of Thursina IIBS (06/10).

The camp took place in the Thursina IIBS male campus with the theme Be Brave and Inspiring the World. It brought together 159 participants, all currently still in the 5 and 6 grades of elementary school. This introduction to the rhythm of pesantren life is meant to familiarize them with the values and routines of the school, immersing them in activities such as Quranic studies, academics, prayers and worships, enrichment programs, and the students code of conducts. Hopefully, through this program, they can prepare themselves for their upcoming school year.

This year ISC was held for 2 days and 1 night from December 30 to 31 2023. One the first day of camp, students were introduced to the Thursina IIBS culture, English and Arabic fun learning, and Al-Quran tahsin method. In the end, the day concluded with an inspirative islamic storytelling session.

The second day featured a combination of spiritual and physical enrichment activities. Participants took part on a series of prayer programs usually carried out by the Thursina IIBS students such as Qiyamul Lail and subuh prayers, followed by a morning tahfidz session. After taking part in the pesantren activities, the students joined a series of enrichment program. Here, they participated in a variety of sports such as horse riding, archery, swimming, wall climbing, badminton, and table tennis.

This sleep over experience is designed to leave a lasting impression, helping students picture how it feels like to live alongside their new friends in a new pesantren environment. The camp also encouraged them to develop a sense of independence and self-reliance while being away from their parents and family even just for one night.

M. Alifiandra Vairel, a student from Surabaya who attended the camp, expressed his joy and excitement over participating in this camp. He was especially interested in how Thursina integrates games into the learning process, making it fun and engaging.

“I was also glad because I got to meet new friends that will later be my fellow classmates here,” said Vairel.

Thursina IIBS’ Chief of Relation and Enrollment, Ustadz Sabar Arifin, hoped that all participant can learn something valuable from the two days of camp.

"We hope that holding this year's ISC can give prospective students an idea about the boarding life in Thursina. More importantly, we hope that they pick up the positive habits they gained here back home,” he said.
