Thursina Voice Strikes Gold with Stellar Performance at IBCF 2023
Following their performance at the Singapore International Choral Festival (SICF) 2023, Thursina International Islamic Boarding School (IIBS)’s choral group, Thursina Voice, headed to Bandung to compete at the International Bandung Choral Festival (IBCF) 2023. The team managed to secure the coveted gold medal in the pop and jazz category.
The enrichment coordinator of Thursina, Ustadzah Arisqie Dinda, stated that the training process to ultimately become a champion had not been an easy feat. All 43 members of Thursina Voice practiced intensely to prepare for the in-person competition in Bandung. In the end, all their hard work paid off, yielding the expected result of their win.
“Thursina Voice had to compete against dozens of teams from many countries. This is something that deserves great recognition. Insyaallah, they are ready to compete against other choir teams,” said Ustadzah Dinda.
The team had been preparing for more or less 60 days to get the best performance, Ustadzah Dinda recounted. “The members of the Thursina Voice practiced three times a day, every day. The sopranos practiced in the first session and the altos practiced in the second session. Meanwhile, the third session was a joint practice with all the members of the group.” she explained.
In this international competition, the team sang Naura Ayu’s Dikeliling Cinta and Barbra Streisand’s Don’t Rain on My Parade.
“There are several important assessments given in this competition such as intonation, pitch accuracy, and the facial expression of each singer,” marked Ustadzah Dinda.
This strict assessment was carried out by an experienced international panel of judges which included Chaterine Leimena (Philippines), Soundarie David Rodrigo (Sri Lanka), Dr. Paul D. Head (USA), Sussana Saw (Malaysia), Mark Anthony Carpio (Philippines), Dr. Zechariah Goh (Singapore), Kittiporn Tantrarungro (Thailand), and Daud Kosasih (Indonesia).
Thursina Voice’s victory was earned thanks to the intense practice guided by the team’s coach, Mr. Lucky Agus Saputra. Mr. Saputra coached the 43 members of Thursina Voice, which are A Zahira Aliyah, Aisira Mumtaza, Aisyah Aqila Nurrahman, Alya Nadia Firdiansyah, Almaira Zivanna Putri, Andi Zaskhia Haswan, Puanapta Naomi Latif, Nayla Rizqi Goeritno, Khayla Faeyza Nurina Salim, Naila Zahra Wiyono, Naura Kamila Rahma, Amirah Arnis, Almira Fakhirana, Annida Almira, Fathiina Syifa Aasiyatunnisa, Fayyodhya Tsaabita Ghooly, Fleya Fabhian Freyna Theisya, Auralea Gasha Rieputri, Keisha Aisyah, Anindya Nursyafisa, Marsya Aurelya, Annisa Espyarni Gurva, Athira Safir Gadiza, Sabrina Alystia, Anjeli Adny Izzati, Keumala Aisha Farzana, Adhe Azmeyna, Ayasha Nabila Saquila, Amelia Cahya Roosyida, Divia Putri Clarissa Alma, Fadail Adabina Minnie, Fidela Rahma, Saharani Farhanjani, Salwa Aulia Mahfudz, Khansa Aqila Idris, Siti Fateema Azzahra, Dinda Ajeng Wulandari, Daaniya Humaira Hartono, Carissa Letizia Putri, Raisa Salsabil Raharja, Nasya Haura, Annisa Zafirah Adzkiya, Nayla Cetta Novianisa.
