Thursina International Islamic Boarding School (IIBS) held, again, outing program for majoring department to supply them with considerable and practical experience for students according to thier chosen field. This program is designed to connect classroom learning with professional work, therefore they gain more applicative understanding.

Ustadzah Rafa, the Head of Thursina IIBS Specialization Program, conveyed the objective of the program is practical observation according to each specific major. "This outing is directly related to the thematic subjects. Students may have only learned some material in college, then it will enrich their comprehension in abstract concepts to be more applicable one," she said.

It is intended to introduce students to industrial works, laboratories and skill applications based on their major. She told, students were invited to observe application of their learning in the classes. "It provides theory and opportunity to learn from experts and practitioners in the related field," she explained.

During the trip, students took part in various activities such as sharing sessions and firsthand practice with the experts. Each major had some visits tailored to their need and learning focus, from  science laboratories to social institutions. However, organizing the program was challenging, mainly related to time and place management. "We need to map potential spots for outings that suit the majors, and initial coordination is really crucial thus everything will run smoothly," said Ustadzah Rafa.

The program received a positive response from  students for its great benefits, the insight and practical experience. It was divided into two types, including thematic and class outing, organised based on student academic needs. "They appreciate this program, but there are suggestions regarding transportation facilities. They hope the following outing event would be accomodated with more  adequate transportation," added Ustadzah Rafa.

The programs are expected to inform students about the variety of careers to pursue based on the major chosen and develop strategies earlier to achieve higher educational goals. "If they already know what their target, they are able to prepare themselves better for the next level," concluded Ustadzah Rafa. (rnw/lil)
