Fostering Organizational Spirit and Self-Actualization, Thursina IIBS Inaugurated the 2023/2024 Administration of TSA

Thursina International Islamic Boarding School (IIBS) continues to foster organizational spirit among its students by giving them the mandate and opportunities to serve as a part of the Thursina Student Association (TSA). As the 2022 period came to an end, Thursina IIBS inaugurated the new chairs and members of the TSA for the 2023/2024 period on September 15.

A total of 54 students from both the male and female campuses were inaugurated by their respective principals. This inauguration of new TSA members is part of the student council organization's regeneration efforts. According to Ustadz Hendika Wicaksana, S.Pd., advisor of the female campus’ TSA, this year’s screening process for the TSA administration had been highly selective compared to the previous years.

To sign up for the screening, students needed to have at least 330 merit points left. Then, these candidates underwent a series of tests including psychological tests, interviews, and Forum Group Discussions (FGD). The FGD stage served as the final round for those vying for the positions of TSA president and chairs. During this stage, candidates also had the chance to campaign and present their visions and work programs as prospective leaders.

“We are looking for students who excel in teamwork, students who are both compassionate and competent leaders for themselves and their peers. Those who believe in themselves but remain down to earth to their teachers and fellow students,” Ustadz Hendika emphasized.

Following their inauguration, selected members of the TSA will undergo Basic Leadership Training (LDK) to prepare for their roles within the organization. The LDK will consist of two parts: internal and external training. Thursina IIBS consistently offers these opportunities for students to gain organizational experience both within the institution and in external settings.

In the internal training, TSA members will be given lectures on organizational and student affairs. They will also receive training on issues and conflict management by the Thursina IIBS Human Capital Management (HCM) unit team. In this occasion, TSA members will also be discussing the series of work programs they will implement during their administration period. In contrast, the external training will focus more on developing their understanding of teamwork.

“This year, we are focusing on improving the TSA in its collaboration and exemplary behavior. We hope that everything will run smoothly,” noted Ustadz Hendika.

Ustadz Hendika noted that the majority of this year's TSA administration are first-time members. This wave of newcomers is expected to charge a new wave of energy and innovation in the administration. Many new ideas have emerged from these new faces. Hence, Ustadzah Lintang expressed her hope that these members will remain optimistic and patient as they navigate each process. She also encouraged the students to take pride in being among the chosen members of the TSA.

“It is not easy to be a leader, through these kinds of forums Thurina students have the opportunity to learn to become one,” she concluded.
