Broadening Students’ Horizon, Thursina IIBS Holds Overseas Visit to Malaysia and Singapore

Thursina International Islamic Boarding School (IIBS) organized an Overseas Visit to Malaysia and Singapore from February 7 to 13, 2024. The trip, organized by the Thursina IIBS International Office, aimed to provide students with educational experiences at historic sites and educational institutions in both countries.

Ustadz Mursyid Arief, the chaperone, noted that the trip included a visit to Madrasah Wak Tanjong Al Islamiyah, where students gained insights into Islamic studies in Singapore.

   

Students also participated in Sitting English Classroom at the Al Zuhri Institute of Higher Education to improve their language skills. They also had the opportunity to learn about the laser technology used at Marina Bay Sands, furthering their understanding of modern technology. The itinerary also included filmmaking lessons at Universal Studios Singapore, where students studies the process of motion picture production.

“This learning visit is needed to give Thursina IIBS students the chance to learn alongside their peers from other countries, allowing them to examine different learning patterns,” revealed Ustadz Mursyid.

   

In Malaysia, students visited historical sites such as Putrajaya, Istana Negara, and Dataran Merdeka to deepen their appreciation of the country's history and culture. Ustadz Mursyid added, “An architecture and historical tour of Genting Highlands, complete with a gondola ride, will also be part of the agenda to study the development and history of the region.”

Highlights of the trip included a visit to Sister School Maahad Ihya Al Ahmadi IIBS in Selangor, as well as the Universiti Malaya (UM) Campus Tour to learn further about higher education in Malaysia.

   

According to Ustadz Mursyid, “This Overseas Visit is a valuable opportunity for students to expand their knowledge not only in formal education but also in the culture and history of both countries. We hope this experience will have a major positive impact their personal and academic development.”

This Overseas Visit was expected to be an enriching experience for Thursina IIBS students, broadening their horizon on international culture and education.
