Strengthening Collaboration with State University, Thursina IIBS Signs MoU with ITS
On Friday, September 27 2024, Thursina International Islamic Boarding School (IIBS) together with the Faculty of Civil, Planning and Geo Engineering (FT-SPK) Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) signed a Cooperation Agreement (PKS) to strengthen collaboration between education and technology. The agenda was held in Senate Meeting Room, at ITS Rectorate Building, Surabaya.
The Cooperation Agreement (PKS) is a continuation of Memorandum of Understanding, previously signed about three years ago, on August 25 2021. It includes collaboration in the fields of education, research, and community service, focusing on resource development through the implementation of Applied Program of Information and Communication Technology (ICT)
Thursina IIBS, in addition, will receive consulting services related to teaching, operations and program development from ITS. If needed, the second party is ready to provide technical support to help operate the applied program. The agreement is expected to increase technological capacity of Thursina.
Ustadz Ali Syihabuddin, M. Pd as Principal of Thursina IIBS School stated the joint is a strategic step to increase the competency of students and teaching staffs in Thursina. "By this agreement, we hope that students and teachers could understand more about the development of information technology, while upholding to Islamic values," he explained.
Thursina IIBS obtains several privileges on the alliance, such as Training of Trainer for prospective teachers before starting the program and certification for teachers who meet the requirements of ICT. Furthermore, Thursina IIBS has the right to take part in guest lectures and workshops organized by ITS.
Ustadz Syihab added, although Thursina IIBS gains some benefits, it is responsible to support various activities written in the arrangement. "We are committed to fully supporting the success of the program by actively involving in every activity plan arranged," he added.
It was signed by Ustadz A. Ali Syihabuddin, S.Si., M.Pd., the Principal of Thursina IIBS High School, and Mr. Dr. Ir. Murni Rachmawati, M.T., the Dean of FT-SPK of ITS. Both parties are optimistic the collaboration will have a positive impact on the development of technology-based education in Indonesia.
ITS also expressed its commitment to support the development of information technology in Thursina IIBS. Mr. Dr. Murni Rachmawati stated the current collaboration is expected to be a fine beginning to strengthen relation between universitiy and school, in order to enhance the quality of education in Indonesia.
Besides, the couple will involve in collaborative research and community service projects, undertaken by academics from the two institutions. Positive impact from the partnership, therefore, broadens to communities, especially in the education sector.
Both parties are committed to continue creating innovation in the field of technology-based education, and could expand further the wings of liaison in the discipline of education. (rnw/lil)
