Thursina IIBS Students Clinches Two Wins at the 2024 Istanbul Youth Summit
A total of 31 students from Thursina International Islamic Boarding School (IIBS) students journeyed to Istanbul, Turkey, to participate in the prestigious international event, the 2024 Istanbul Youth Summit (IYS), from February 26 to March 9.
This event brought together future leaders from all overround the world, all of them vying to present their best ideas on the implementation of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in the fields of Health, Education, Economy, and Environment. Thursina IIBS sent two female student teams, namely Tomaworld and Koateen, and two male student teams, Loopwear and Petualam.
Ustadz Sulton, S.Pd., one of the chaperones, noted that beyond participating in constructive debates and discussion panels, the students also had the opportunity to explore Turkey’s historical and cultural heritage by visiting some of Istanbul’s landmarks, such as the Blue Mosque, Grand Mosque, Mevlana Museum, and Hagia Sophia.
“This experience not only inspires and broadens their perspectives but also serves as a stepping stone for those interested in pursuing higher education abroad in the future,” Ustadz Sulton remarked. With great enthusiasm, these students hoped that this valuable experience would prepare them for their careers and help them build a bright future.
In the end, these Thursina IIBS students managed to bring home two trophies for their school. The Koateen team brilliantly secured second place for the best Social Project award, while the Loopwear group triumphed and was crowned as the best team of the summit.
"Additionally, one participant, Alyssa Aulia Putri Wahyudi, achieved the honor of reciting the Quran at this international event," Ustadz Sulton said.
With these amazing feats, Thursina IIBS continues to prove its commitment to guiding and educating the young generations to become future leaders who are knowledgeable, possess integrity, and can positively contribute to their communities and the rest of the world.
