Enriching English Language and Tahfidz, A Student from Jordan Joins International Short Course at Thursina IIBS

Thursina International Islamic Boarding School (IIBS) has just completed an International Short Course Program. A student from Jordan, Obai Abdelsalam Atwa Alfandi had English language training, intensified tahfidz and studied Indonesian culture (19/09).


Manager of International Teacher & Student, Ustadz Qoirul Mansur Darojad, M.Pd stated, International Short Course is a program initiated by Thursina IIBS in collaboration with foreign educational institution. Obai, a student from Jordan, is the son of Dr. Abd Alsalam Atwa Al-Fandi, The Dean of Sharia and Islamic Studies  Faculty from Applied Science University (ASU), Jordan. He was the keynote speaker at Thursina IIBS Tahfidz graduation ceremony in the end of 2022. In the previous year, Thursina IIBS has signed a collaboration with this reputable university in terms of further studies and developing the quality of educational staffs.


Initiated by Thursina International Office (TIO), the program is aimed at improving the quality of education among Islamic educational institutions as well as providing cross-country experience for students. One of the agendas of this collaboration is student exchange.


"For three weeks, Obai has learned a series Tahfidz programs, English language, Indonesian culture and visited several iconic places in Malang City" said Ustadz Qoirul.


He added, the program is also a means for students to build relationships with international students, enrich foreign language, and exchange diverse cultural knowledge.



"This is a perfect opportunity to learn to be internationally minded, build closer islamic brotherhood while establishing empathy and tolerance towards others," he added. Meanwhile, Obai said he was proud to have a chance in this program. Thursina IIBS has a comfortable and supportive learning environment and atmosphere. Many teachers are competent and adaptable to technology. He admitted, while in Thursina, he has escalated his English vocabularies a lot, learned Indonesian language for the first time and studied Indonesian civilization. "I got a lot of what I was looking for while here, I am very grateful to all teachers and students who have accompanied me and helped me a lot," he concluded.
